Heartworms- so simple to prevent and so hard to treat. Today I had to take the sweet little Basset Hound, Beagle mix little boy I am fostering to be treated for this horrible condition. I should be used to it as this is my third go around. I adopted two dogs who were both Heart worm positive. Still today, I am saddened as this is little guy suffers through the painful injections into his spine to kill the worms that are in his heart. If you are in an area where mosquito’s who transfer the Heart worms to dogs live, please, please give your dog the monthly pill to prevent this horrible condition.
